A successful hosting experience is one in which both the student and the family enjoy a positive multicultural exchange during their time together.
What you Must Provide
Welcome the student into your home. Provide a safe, caring environment, much as you would a member of your family. Be prepared to spend time with the student and display a friendly, flexible attitude. Host responsibilities include teaching the students such basics like acquiring a mobile sim card, buying a bus pass, the location of shops, and providing personal safety tips.
Expectations of Homestay Hosts
Th student requires a private bedroom, bed, desk, chair, wardrobe or drawer space for clothes, pre-determined meals per day. Most common arrangement is self-serve breakfast and dinner.
Accommodation offered to students will need to be clean and orderly. The room should be properly furnished, located within the family dwelling, and offer privacy. Bathrooms may be shared with the family or be private.
Host Payments
Hosts are paid monthly while hosting a student. Each visiting student pays a homestay fee to Study & Stay Hawaii. The majority of the homestay fee is passed along to hosts to cover day-to-day food and accommodation expenses. Homestay fees very from age group and host responsibilities.
Study & Stay Hawaii mails host payments the 1st week of the student's arrival through the end of the arrival month. Following payments will be received by the host during the 1st week of each month.
